BAAL Corpus Linguistics SIG - Meetings Information

 

This section of the website features information on meetings that have been held by the SIG and also about future meetings.

The next meeting of the SIG will be a one-day workshop on WordSmith Tools, led by Mike Scott, the author of the programme, and hosted by Coventry University. The workshop will take place on the 27th November 2009.

The first meeting of the SIG was held at the University of Birmingham, on 16th April 2004. The timetable for the day can be viewed online (as a PDF document) and the abstracts are published here as a web page.

The second meeting of the SIG was a workshop jointly organised by the SIG and Oxford Text Archive. The workshop took place on the 21st April 2005. Click here to visit the workshop web page.

The third meeting of the SIG was a seminar organised by the Open University, on 'Text analysis using corpora - methodological issues'. The seminar took place on the 28th April 2006. Click here to visit the seminar web page.

The fourth meeting of the SIG was a symposium organised by Heriot-Watt University, on 'Investigating parallel corpora'. The symposium took place on the 16th April 2008. Click here to visit the symposium web page.

At the BAAL Annual Meetings in London (September 2004), Bristol (2005), Cork (2006), Edinburgh (2007), Swansea (2008) and Newcastle (2009) a number of individual papers relating to the SIG were placed in a special strand, and there was also a colloquium on 'Learners and corpora', convened by Paul Thompson, at the 2004 AM in London.
